Burton Brotherhood Men's Group
Burton Brotherhood Men's Group
Fortnightly Meets for Men
Service Description
This is a group for men, we will have healthy discussions, learn ways to manage emotions, keep our bodies and minds healthy. This is a place to meet new people, make friends, and grow as men, fathers and partners. Held fortnightly on Saturdays at 4pm. Places are booked by month (£8 per session or cheaper if you book in bulk, see pricing options) It is not a spiritual group, though spiritual things certainly can take place. It is not a therapy group, even though therapeutic benefits do occur for all who attend. It is not a self-help group, even though selves do get help. It is simply a regularly held group container wherein men are able to heal parts of their psyche and become sharper, wiser, and more well-rounded as people as well as make friends. Society has been pushing men towards a subtle, unique type of emotional isolation. Men don’t feel comfortable talking about their lives or how they feel about things that are happening. Even guys who are self-aware and more open-minded have trouble sharing in this way. This may sound like you. If so please know that it’s no fault of your own! Guys have had “don’t talk about it” beaten into their psyches over generations. So most guys go through life without ever having the opportunity to talk about what’s happening or how they feel. And this becomes a problem because when a guy faces the unavoidable adversities of life, they realise that they don’t have many healthy outlets. This creates a lot of pressure so they eventually burn out, blow up or meltdown. Even the strongest men out there hit tough times and struggle to cope. You would never know because they keep it private, but it’s real. The stats show that anxiety, depression, overwhelm, paralysis and self-doubt plague some of our best men out there. Instead of that route, lots of men choose to meet in private where they won’t be scrutinized for being honest, emotional or supportive of one another. This is why so many men choose to join a men’s support group and that is what we are offering here at The Pod. Michael will facilitate this group but all members are equal, and everyone's voice is honoured anyone can bring anything they want to the group. This is a space to be open and honest, without fear, judgement or ridicule. A place where we can brag about our achievements and successes and can share our discomfort and struggles with empathy and support but also challenge each other, hold ourselves accountable and have healthy debate and resolution.
